big crowds and mosh pits are hard at the best of times.
last night I saw The Living End’s Roll On from start to finish and the entire show a couple were locked armed next to me, facing each other and making out for most of it…. WHAT THE???? who pays $40+ to a sold out event and stands there sucking face???
tonight, I was in a similar spot, my fav spot. no looked out for the maker outters before i settled.
i had a good posse, standing near some other height challenged fans when these two old, tall, blonde women pranced right in front of us with their glasses of white wine and decided to chat to one another and video the gig, lol at the time you didn’t press record for a whole song… that’s right, we were laughing! and then after doing the drunk lean back onto me they then dropped a wine glass and just left the smashed piece there. I moved it aside as that was the direct path for the moshers to exit.
The ladies behind me were really sweet from the moment these two crowded my view, they moved so i could see better and kept making comments.
the two blondes then grabbed their AAA passes like Wayne and Garth at an Alice Cooper gig and pranced backstage, I was relived but also annoyed that they are somehow connected to the band yet so rude. the nice lady behind me told me she is Chris Cheney’s sister and can’t wait to get back there to tell him how rude they were to me and get them kicked out :)
So, who is freaking excited for this massive tour? I sure know I am! Who’s got their tickets, and what shows are you heading to?
thanks Alexisonfire now I miss WHITE NOISE!
What an incredible weekend!
So many amazing bands, the living end did an amazing set, hunting grounds you are terrific, hanni el katib had way to small a crowd, Jim ward was the same but so beautiful, the scissor sisters and purple sneakers djs you were fun and moaning to Bluejuice was great!
The People who I was with all weekend made for such a fun and relaxed weekend and I spent it doing something I loved.
Thanks to everyone for making 2011 such a fun, successful and exciting year!
If you’re a fan of good music then chances are that you would have heard of Chris Cheney.
Growing up in Wheelers Hill in Melbourne, Chris developed a love for music from an early age. His early influences included Jazz and highly influential band the Stray Cats.
During primary school he…
another career highlight, having one of my all time musicians Chris Cheney playing at my work!
I now have a 4th shirt to wear.
fek this shirt is amazing!
due to exhaustion i had to forgo a free ticket to tonights show.
instead i’m working from home on my laptop eating beans and garlic.
was lots of fun yesterday.
we walked to the park and we were so overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned up.
it was my first afl match, but in all honesty i didn’t really watch the game.
the living end played a killer set and i was a fan-girl and chatted to Chris Cheney after the set.
mid match we realised out friend Shaun from Trial Kennedy was playing.
so wednesday afternoon I got an email saying i was going to the MTV Classics launch with a very exclusive set from SLASH!
i wanted this so bad!
there is a guy i met during my channel v finals and he was a fan of mine and we got along well, had a lot in common and i knew he had connections at mtv so i thought (as i generally do) what’s the harm in asking?
i was sold you the PR company as a “media personality” and long story short i got there.
i had my outfit planned in my head all day, my dark purple, strapless, sweetheart neckline dress that flaired at the waist with my new cropped military style jacket with jewelled shoulder details my mum bought me when i visited home, sheer black polka dot stockings and simple black heels but on the way home i felt a bit paranoid of being over dressed and i opted for the jacket planned, the stockings, a high waited, A line black friday skirt and my wheels and doll baby striped top, hair teased and in a curled side pony… i wish i went with the original outfit as i should have thought everyone is dressing up… but alas i chose a safe outfit!
after having issues with my fake lashes i ditch them and i get a taxi to the venue.
i take the VIP line and thinking it doesnt look what i expected i also thought that they wanted to make it look low-key from the outside so fans were deterred…
so i confidently say my name at the vip check in, but alas my name’s not on the list! i’m not sure why but this happens to me often, maybe it’s a test, maybe it’s to get me off my high horse, maybe i’m not important enough to remember…. anyway i call the lady who organised my pass, she confidently assures me it’s there and to speak to nikki who is at the front with blonde hair in a pony tail…. so i approach 3 girls who fit that description and none are nikki… sooo i go back inside and the publicist organises my pass and begins to schedule a time for me to meet with “the boys” (strange way to refer to slash but ok) at this stage my mobile phones dead and its my tool for interviews so i go to the ticket booth and charge it there, i also then notice the lack of rockstars and the subtle look of the guests…then i look at the ticket girls lanyard… i’m at the EL DEVO media preview show!!! definately NOT Slash!!!
so i politely take my phone and race to Hungry Jacks bathroom around the corner (i frequent there often to unplug their hand-dryer to charge my phone) and listen to my voicemail from mtv which is like “i hope you have the right venue” clearly not!
so i get in another cab and race to the right venue where i see nikki! she gives me my pass and directs me to the red carpet… yep my first red carpet!
i am behind brian mcfadden who has been in the press a lot lately so he was hot topic!
i felt very nervous and small on the red carpet and honestly i’m a nobody no one cares for me, so i shyly walked off the red carped but was so close to Slash and his beautiful wife Perla it was electric!
i then saw Renee Cassar, a pop star who performed on the live gig i hosted the other week and she was tipsy but ever so friendly!
the night was filled with australian rock royalty, free drinks, photographs!
then the one and only SLASH came on stage!
the set was as expected! a great mix of guns n roses, velvet revolver and slash’s solo tracks.
angry anderson of Rose Tattoo was a big addition to the line up as he and Slash are friends from years ago and as much as i don’t like Wolfmother Andrew Stockdales performance was great!
During the set I spotted my idol, australian music presenters best Molly Meldrum!
I casually walked and stood next to him and watched Slash on stage, then came over Chris Cheney the singer of one of my FAVOURITE bands The Living End!!! Dreams come true!!!!
I then chatted to Molly who was lovely and kissed me on the cheek!
The show ended and everyone was quick to clear out!
I ran into a few people I knew before getting caught in the rain and heading to Cherry Bar for a few relaxed drinks and music chats.
i’m still in shock over the night!
