so like most girls my age i was obsessed with hanson!
i had the tshirts, videos, lunch box, cds, singles, necklace and have every single article or poster scrapbooked and on my wall and taped every little tv appearance.
i even wrote zac hanson a letter with one half of a best friend charm, because i was convinced we’d be best friend.
after that i would study every photo of him to see if he was wearing it…. it never surfaced.
as i got older my interests changed and hanson we not “cool” anymore, so their CDs that i once played on repeat for days on end because stuck to my wall as decoration and were never played again.
Later in my life i met a friend Mel and after a while we confessed our love for hanson and she gave me a copy of their album Underneath.
this was released in 2003 and although it still has the sweet harmonies only siblings can achieve and catchy tunes it was a much more mature album that i enjoy a lot.
I can still listen to Middle Of Nowhere and appreciate the songs and to think they were so young when it was written.
for mels birthday last month I got her the dvd “Strong Enough To Break” which originally was them documenting the recording process and ended being a heartbreaking documentary of the pressures and stress of recording the album and dealing with an unreliable record label.
even if you’re not a hanson fan it’s great to see their songwriting process, the stories from the label, the stress on the band and also the end result of which is them creating their own label 3cg Records and still getting chart results.
if you’re interested in the music business definitely check it out
